Northanger Abbey is the home of the founding family of Meryton. At one time, all of the land east of the town hall belonged to the Northanger family. When taxes became too high, they sold off much of their land and secondary homes to influential townspeople. The home still contains much of its magnificence, though some updating has been done over the years.
