The Rottweiler is an often misunderstood breed with a history that dates back to the Roman Empire. The breeds ancestors came to Germany with the armies marching through europe, and was taken in as a guard and cattle dog where it would protect the herder and his cattle, as well as the pouch where the money from the business was stored and hung around the dogs neck. The breed was named after the hometown, Rottweil, and there's a statue of a Rottweiler in the city to honor this fantastic breed.
