Eragon is a simple farmboy, working hard on his uncle's farm, believing that the legendary Dragon Riders are only legends and that Brom, the man who tells of them, is merely a storyteller. But when he finds a mysterious stone in the woods which hatches into a dragon, when evil creatures invade and destroy his home and kill his uncle, everything he knows is thrown into question, and he and Brom must set out to save their world from a tyrannical king.
